Alert: City Councilmen and Water District Directors: this could be a tough political year explaining to constituents why water rates are going up while water use is down.

The Urban Water Institute Executive Committee has named Jim Noyes, retired Director, LA County Public Works, as UWI Executive Director, and Wayne Clark, former Executive Director, as Associate Executive Director of the Institute for 2012.
And, finally, named to the Board of Directors are: State Senator Dick Ackerman (Ret.), Partner, Nossaman Law Firm; Lisa Ohlund, General Manager, East Orange County Water District; and Tina Shields, Asst. Manager, Imperial Irrigation District.

Board of Directors members are urged to attend the Annual Board of Directors meeting and luncheon on December 6, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The Urban Water Annual Board of Director’s Meeting and Luncheon will be held December 6, 2011, at Prego Ristorante in Irvine. The luncheon program will include naming the Institute’s “Water Leader of the Year” Award. A formal invitation will be sent shortly.
The Urban Water Institute Spring Conference will be held February 9-10 in Palm Springs. The program will feature increasing water rates, ocean desalination, and Southern California’s recent power blackout.

Steve Bucknam of Bucknam & Asso. was re-elected at the annual Board of Directors meeting to serve as Chairman of the Board for 2011.
Richard Nagel General Manager of West Basin MWD, was named to serve as Vice Chairman, replacing Robert Siemak, who has taken employment overseas.
Also continuing to serve on the Executive Committee for 2011 are:
